Student Awards & Recognition: Changes Coming This Year

The return of in-person celebrations and graduation ceremonies in 2022 motivated us to revisit who we are, what we value and how we celebrate. These events also present us with an opportunity to meet one of the goals of our strategic plan to “tell our story and advance our mission” as a school that exists to uncover students’ talents and encourage their potential for excellence and impact in the world for the Glory of God.

The effort and dedication that students put into their studies, including those who make improvements over the course of the year contribute to a positive culture of faith, teaching, and learning at LCS.

WHY DO WE CELEBRATE ACHIEVEMENT?

We have gathered input from leadership, faculty committees and some community stakeholders to inform some important changes to the way we celebrate and recognize our students’ achievements in the arts, academics and athletics. We want to ensure that we find opportunities to celebrate students who strive to model the mission, vision and core values of LCS. We are going to continue celebrating the outstanding work done by our Grade 9-12 students from September to June in an expanded way from past years.

Beginning this year, we are planning to recognize students’ academic achievement in 5 ways:

  • GOVERNOR GENERALS AWARD (Top graduating student)
  • HONOUR ROLL (80%+)
  • PRINCIPAL’S LIST (90%+)
  • HEAD OF SCHOOLS’ LIST (95%+)
  • DEPARTMENTAL EXCELLENCE AWARDS (Outstanding achievement in a discipline)
