At Langley Christian School, we believe every student is created in God’s image and deserves to fully belong, learn, and thrive in our community. As part of this commitment, we established an Accessibility Committee in line with the Accessible B.C. Act.
We are a Christian teaching and learning community that celebrates the diversity of our students as part of God’s design and intention for the world. We aspire to be a place of belonging and connection, and a people who model our lives on Christ…

LINK: Procedure 3108a: LCS Accessibility Planning Committee Terms of Reference
This committee brings together parents, staff, and leaders to identify and reduce barriers so that every member of our school family can participate fully in the life of LCS. We are deeply grateful for the work of the committee and for everyone who shared feedback through surveys, focus groups, and conversations. Your voices shaped the 2025–2028 Accessibility Plan, and together we are building a school where students know God, love others, and live purposefully.
In April 2023, we began the process of establishing an accessibility committee and identifying barriers to accessibility in our school community. This process involved:
- Calling for applications for members of the Accessibility Planning Committee
- Assessing the current physical and architectural accessibility of our school.
- Conducting surveys and interviews to understand the issues, challenges, and priorities of stakeholders within our school community
- Holding key discussions to identify barriers to accessibility
- Developing a school feedback tool
- Prioritization of actions to be taken
- Establishing a monitoring and evaluation process
Our approach is designed to recognize the gaps and opportunities to improve accessibility in our school community. By engaging in thoughtful planning, meaningful engagement, training, and direct action, we aim to deliver lasting accessibility improvements for all members of our community.
Our Accessibility Report highlights much to celebrate: a culture of caring and inclusion, strong communication pathways between home and school, creative teaching that supports all learners, and facilities that continue to adapt to meet student needs . At the same time, the committee has identified opportunities to keep growing: increasing awareness and empathy, strengthening accessible communication, enhancing our policies and practices, expanding assistive technology, and improving physical spaces.
These findings remind us of the kind of community we are becoming: one where accessibility is not just about ramps or policies, but about belonging, dignity, and shared purpose. As we move forward, we remain committed to listening, learning, and taking practical steps so that every student and family knows they are welcomed and valued.
We want to recognize Joyce Wang, our Director of Learning Services, for her dedication and leadership in forming our Accessibility Planning Committee and gathering valuable input and voices from across our community.
Thank you to our committee members and to the entire LCS community for joining in this important work. Together, we are creating a place where every student and family will thrive.
