At the middle campus of Langley Christian School, our students are called to “Be LIGHT”.
Be – Believe (faith-informed discernment)
L – Leadership (purposefully disciplined)
I – Integrity (grace-filled integrity)
G – Gratitude (engaged and faithful)
H – Helpful (servant stewardship)
T -Together (hopeful and thriving)
We believe that students are equipped to “BeLIGHT” when we intentionally create space for them to grow in faith, foster authentic relationships, and experience moments of joy together. Our middle school Chapel and Connect Groups program, directed by Mr. Rhea, embodies this idea—students are offered the opportunity to worship authentically together while building cross-grade relationships that strengthen our school culture.

Rhythm of Faith: Worship and Connection in Our Middle School
At Langley Christian School, we believe that middle school is a pivotal time for students to anchor their identity in Christ. To support this journey, we have developed a bi-weekly rhythm that balances large-scale inspiration with small-group intimacy.
Meaningful Worship: The Chapel Experience
Every other Friday morning, our middle school community gathers for Chapel. This isn’t just a service; it’s a time designed for students to encounter God’s truth in creative, engaging ways.
Chapel at LCS is far from a passive experience. It is a vibrant mix of:
Joyful Creativity: We intentionally incorporate fun—just ask a student about “The Impossible Shot.”
Our Philosophy: Worship isn’t confined to solemnity; joy and reverence can beautifully coexist.
Student-Led Worship: Music and reflection led by our own staff and students.
Inspiring Voices: Words shared by LCS community members and guest speakers.
The “BeLIGHT” Awards: Monthly recognition of students living out their faith.

Connection Across Grades: Connect Groups
On alternating Fridays, we shift from the “big group” to smaller, intentional circles called Connect Groups. These cross-graded (Grade 6–8), same-gender gatherings are designed to foster a deep sense of belonging across our campus.
Through a mix of high-energy activities and serious conversation, students build relationships that transcend their specific grade level. In these groups, students:
- Pray and Play Together: Building bonds that last beyond the classroom.
- Develop Discernment: Practicing “faith-informed discernment” in a safe space.
- Live Purposefully: Learning what it means to lead “purposefully disciplined” lives alongside mentors and peers.

Why This Matters: A Rhythm of Growth
This cycle—Chapel one week, Connect Groups the next—creates a beautiful rhythm of spiritual growth and authentic belonging.
We value both the individual faith journey and the power of community. Whether standing together in a crowded gym for worship or sitting in a small circle with new friends, our middle schoolers are connecting in meaningful ways to God and to each other.
The Ultimate Goal: To “Be LIGHT”
We are equipping our students to be confident in who God created them to be, ensuring they never have to walk that journey alone.
