The Lightning senior boys soccer team capped their historic season in 2022 with a top four finish at the AA Provincial Championships in Burnaby. The team was undefeated all season until losing in the semi-final and bronze medal matches.

Senior Boys Soccer – 4th in 2022 AA Provincial Championships

As a new teacher here, I was just blown away by the support for our team. The seniors day where dozens of students came out to cheer us on in the pouring rain to see us clinch first place was amazing. There was just so much positive energy for these guys.

THOMAS ALLEN – LCS BOYS SOCCER COACH

The soccer team has had a resurgence over the last two years under the coaching of Mark Jones, and this year – Thomas Allen. Some schools like Notre Dame, or others particularly in the Vancouver area, have entire rosters of high performance club soccer players, but LCS held their own. Their quarter final match was a nail-biter that went to penalties before Josh Jones sealed the win with a save and a penalty kick goal. After a tough semi-final match up the boys dropped their final game in the bronze medal match up.

These boys punched well above expectations and they can be proud of how they performed all season long. I want to make a special shout out to our graduating student athletes for their contributions to our program. You broke new ground!

JON MAYAN – HS ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

Our program is thankful for the contributions of our coaches and the parents and supporters who came out all season to watch them play and cheer them on.
