Course Information and Resources

House Directors will be meeting individually with their grades 9-11 students in February to choose their courses.  Please take time before that meeting to go though the course information links listed above.  Grade 8s will be choosing courses along with a House Director in a future timeslot determined by the grade 8 teaching team.

Course Selection Timeline:

FEBRUARY – course selection individual meetings with House Directors

MARCH – LCS Administration and Student Life will compile course selection information and work through the timetabling process

APRILfinal work on timetabling and course selection choices will be confirmed by House Directors

Scholarships

expand_more Board of Directors Scholarship – Value: $1000

Awarded annually to a graduating student who will be entering a missions, ministry program or community service upon graduation. The recipient must have a specific plan and have submitted an essay to the LCS Board Chair. The Board Executive Committee is responsible for selecting the award recipient.

expand_more Centra Cares Scholarship – Value: $1000

Centra Cares is the charitable foundation of Centra Construction Group. Centra started as a small construction firm in 1984 and has grown to become one of the leaders in window manufacturing, building envelope, energy retrofit, and restorations in British Columbia. We supply and install windows, doors and siding throughout the province. One of Centra’s core purposes is to make a difference in the lives of our employee owners and the communities we live and work in. Centra Cares scholarship aligns with Centra’s values by giving back to the community and helping students achieve their career goals in construction.

Centra Cares is offering a scholarship to a student who is pursuing a career in construction (red seal trade certification, project management, estimation or construction business management).

expand_more Dave Alexander Memorial Scholarship – Value: $1000

Awarded annually to a graduating student who has shown commitment to the LCS music program through a variety of courses throughout their high school years (Choir, Concert Band, and/or Jazz Band). The student will have exemplified excellence and passion in their music courses, and consistently participated in music from grades 9-12.  Preference will be given to a student entering a post-secondary music program. The recipient will be selected by the Music Director in collaboration with the Scholarship Committee.

expand_more David Folkerts Memorial Award – Value: $500

This award will be given annually to a graduating student who has a heart for missions and who will be pursuing a missions program or trip within the next year. Financial need will also be considered.

expand_more Head of Schools Scholarship | Leadership – Value: $1000

Awarded annually to a graduating student who has demonstrated outstanding achievement and contribution to student, servant leadership throughout their high school career. The student must be pursuing a post-secondary education. This award is selected by the Board Executive Committee.

expand_more Infinity Heart & Soul Scholarship – Value: $2500

Awarded annually to a graduating student who is pursuing post-secondary education in the area of construction, with preference to those going into the field of Architecture, Civil Engineering or Construction Management.

$2500 will be awarded to a graduate entering either a degree or diploma program in the construction field (engineering, architecture, construction management etc.). Or $1,500 will be awarded for a graduate entering an apprenticeship program.

expand_more Jack Nagtegaal Memorial Award – Value: $2000

Awarded annually to the student who wishes to receive training in the trades. Preference will be given to those who can demonstrate financial need to complete the training.

expand_more Jeanne Richter Memorial Award – Value: $1500

Awarded annually to the student who achieves the highest academic standing during the final year of secondary education. This award will be given in September after graduation.

expand_more Kingma Scholarship – Value: $3000

The Kingma Scholarship will be offered to a student who is pursuing a career in trades (Project Coordination, Project Management, Estimation, Red Seal Construction Certificates), or pursuing a career in Engineering or Business.

expand_more Kyle and Emile Memorial Scholarship – Value: $1000

Awarded to the graduate known for his/her ability to build community. This student will have been involved in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities, and have made positive contributions to student life at LCS. S/he will have the ability to draw other people in and to generate a healthy school spirit. This award is by staff nomination only.

expand_more LCS Staff Scholarship – Value: $1000

Awarded annually to the recipient who demonstrates a Christ-like attitude, is serious about academics, as well as demonstrates leadership in school and contributes to extra-curricular activities within the school. Preference given to a graduating student who will be attending a post-secondary institution to pursue a degree in Education.

expand_more Matheson Family Foundation Scholarship – Value: $2000

Awarded annually to a graduating student who maintains a 75% average and who plans on attending a post-secondary institution in the area of business. Preference given to a student who demonstrates financial need. The student must be involved in a variety of extra-curricular activities.

expand_more PARENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE (PAC) SCHOLARSHIP – VALUE: $1000

Awarded annually to a graduating student pursuing post-secondary education, who demonstrates perseverance and hard work to achieve their success.

expand_more Ritchie Smith Feeds Scholarship – Value: $1000

Ritchie-Smith Feeds Inc. has been proudly serving BC farmers since 1968.  Ritchie-Smith is a locally owned and operated feed manufacturer and feed supplier to the livestock sectors throughout British Columbia, providing a wide range of innovative feed solutions and professional services to BC’s agricultural community.

The Langley Christian graduating student chosen must be enrolled in a university or technical program and must have attained a “B” or better average in each of Grades 11 & 12. The candidate must demonstrate outstanding contributions in leadership, citizenship, and extracurricular activities.  The candidate must be of excellent character, with integrity, high moral standards, and respect for authority and peers. Preference will be given to students who have plans to study agriculture, agricultural business, animal or plant sciences, or veterinary studies.

expand_more Township of Langley Scholarship – Value: $1000

Awarded annually to a graduating student who plans on attending a post-secondary institution in math or sciences.  Preference given to a student with strong academic credentials, who has given back to the LCS community during their senior year.

Student must be a Township of Langley resident.

expand_more Wes Geransky Memorial Award – Value: $4000

Awarded annually to the grade 12 student who best represents the goals of LCS. This person must show evidence of being a community builder, be serious about academics, be involved in leadership in and outside of the school community, be active in the extra-curricular program, have a heart of service, and must model a mature Christian walk. The award must be used for post-secondary studies. This award is by staff nomination only.

The Wesmont Foundation Scholarship will be offered to a student who is pursuing a career in trades (Project Coordination, Project Management, Estimation, Red Seal Construction Certificates), or pursuing a career in Engineering or Business.

expand_more Willem and Alice Colyn Memorial Alumni Scholarship – VALUE: $500

Awarded annually to a graduating student who is a Canadian citizen. This student must demonstrate work ethic, initiative, and confident perseverance while attending LCS, and also within their various extracurricular activities.  Less of the focus of this award will be on the student’s final GPA. The award must be used for post-secondary studies.

The purpose of the award is to encourage and reward the student who actively makes the most out of the various talents God has specifically given him/her while at LCS. The award is named after Dutch immigrants whose encouraging spirit and benevolence lives within the purpose of this award. The award is provided by their grandchildren, who are LCS Alumni. This award is by staff nomination only.

Transcript requests

Post-secondary institutions would prefer all current and former students to order their transcripts through the Student Transcript Service (STS) instead of having high school transcripts mailed to them.  You will need your Personal Education Number (PEN) when ordering through the STS.  Please email Mrs. Huberts (jhuberts@langleychristian.com) if you need your PEN.
