“The campers have helped me so much in my faith by being bold themselves and showing me helping others learn about God is truly more important than anything of the world.”

Camp LCS 2024 has been nothing short of extraordinary again this year!
This summer, we witnessed our largest turnout ever, with over 500 campers—516 to be exact—coming together to experience what can only be described as, “the best summer ever!” Our expanded numbers enabled us to welcome more senior staff to the team, including two new cabin leaders and an additional program assistant, ensuring that every camper received the attention and care they deserve.
One of the most exciting changes this year was our move to the Elementary School, which was perfectly geared towards creating a positive experience for our K-5 campers. Our programming included special field trips to the high school for some epic wide games! With over 100 dedicated staff and volunteers making this summer possible, we maintained an incredible 1:3 leader-to-camper ratio, ensuring personalized attention for every child. We also saw an inspiring number of our grade 6 and 7 former campers step up to join our FUN CREW and Junior Staff, gaining leadership experience alongside our senior staff.
What made camp so special was that our journey didn’t begin with the first day of camp; it started weeks earlier with our senior staff training retreat in Princeton. Here, 19 high school and university students came together, not just to learn leadership skills but to grow in their faith. It was a powerful weekend where we saw the Lord work in their hearts and minds, preparing them to confidently thrive with faith and purpose.
“I find myself stepping out of my comfort zone all the time, and confidently doing things that
I would have never dared do before this summer.”
Simon “Teriyaki” Cui
CAMP LCS 2024 has been a beautiful representation of the body of Christ, with each person—whether camper, volunteer, or leader—playing a role in creating community, connection, and belonging.
From the group connections, to the skits, and our high school students mentoring the middle school students, each purposeful activity highlighted the importance of every member. It was clear that this summer was about more than just fun. It was about faith transformation, leadership growth, and creating a sense of belonging that will resonate long after the summer ends.
“CAMP LCS is an environment that brings out the best in me and my friends.
I’m motivated to be a leader and impact the campers because of
all the wonderful older people that have impacted me!”
Noelle “Blizzard” VanHuizen
Throughout the summer, we saw the impact of this training as our staff led with excellence. Campers weren’t just participating in activities; they were forming life-changing relationships and making deep spiritual commitments.

Every family needs their kids to experience joy throughout the summer. This is what Abbie “Dory” Lammers, LCS student and first-year staff member shared that she loves about camp. Ali “Bambi” Stam, a second-year staff-member and LCS student shared that this is what makes our LCS community so special.
The inspiration for Camp LCS emerged a few years ago as we considered ways we might provide opportunities for discipling young leaders and extending our reach and service to the wider community during the summer months.
