We are excited to introduce our first PAC Executive Team, who will be serving as an interim team until September 2022.
A number of families expressed interest to serve on a Parent Advisory Council and virtually came together on January 26th to learn more about the LCS PAC and discuss goals and ideas for this group. From this meeting, 11 people came forward to volunteer their time to serve as the first interim Executive Team.
Throughout Langley Christian’s history we have had many different volunteer support groups including the Mother’s Club, The Development Committee, The Community Relations Committee and, most recently, Friends of LCS. Friends of LCS has been invaluable in the last number of years but it is now time to pivot this group to form a Parent Advisory Council.
Having a PAC that is dedicated to building community, developing parent engagement and supporting the school will help bridge a gap between the parent community and the administration teams. We hope that PAC meetings are a place to encourage discussion about school initiatives, offer a space of open communication between parents and administration, increase parent engagement, create a culture of volunteerism, and grow a sense of belonging to the LCS community.
In the immediate future, our PAC will take over the hot lunch program and plan for some community building events in the spring and fall. However, they will be interested in other ideas too, and will look into planning and hosting parent education events as well.
PAC Meetings are open to all parents of current students at LCS and we encourage you to come out and support this group. We look forward to seeing the initiatives and ideas this group brings to our community. We hope you all join us in thanking these volunteers for their time, effort and dedication to the school.
