Next week is an entire week dedicated to indigenous learning across all campuses at LCS. We are fortunate to have Kevin Mirchandani (Director of K-12 Instruction and Christian Foundations) and Amy Stromgren (K-12 Indigenous Learning Coordinator) to help prepare materials for teachers to engage students in this important learning and story.

This morning, our staff gathered for a time of learning, reflection, and preparation for the coming week. Amy challenged us to think about why this week is important. Next week, as we participate, we hope you will take time to reflect on our theme verse, Micah 6:8, and our focus for the Indigenous Education week: why truth and reconciliation is important as a Christian learning community.

As a Christian school, committed to Jesus’ ministry of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:11-21), we would invite you to have a reflective conversation over a meal sometime on September 30 together with your family and friends to share about your learning.

We hope this will be a meaningful time of learning for our school community.

We invite you to watch the video and hear Amy’s story as she speaks to the importance of truth and reconciliation.

Last year we shared about why we wear orange shirts in support of indigenous education.
