With Mr. Vanderleek’s departure this summer, we are fortunate to be able to call upon an excellent educational leader in our school to fill his position.

Mrs. Carpenter has been serving very effectively in her role as assistant principal in the Middle School, and brings a track record of working collaboratively with her colleagues to establish common practices that improve learning for all students. She is an outstanding, dedicated educator with strong educational leadership and relational skills. Over the past year she has taken on school-wide initiatives with excellence and has shown that she is ready to assume the role of principal.

Anita Wood is the new elementary assistant principal. Anita attended TWU and Queens University and is currently pursuing a postgraduate degree in teacher librarianship. Anita has over 20 years of highly effective classroom teaching experience and has a track record of being a collaborative, positive culture builder among her colleagues at the elementary school. She has strong communication skills and sees herself as a change agent and lifelong learner committed to serving all students and families in the LCS community. She has been a tireless champion of K-5 literacy instruction and the performing arts, planning and organizing the elementary musical performances over the past eight years. In her interview, she articulated a commitment to building a culture of “we,” partnering with parents and teachers to create optimal learning environments and promoting research-based, Christian teaching practices. She has embraced the learning curve over the past two years as LCS leans into educational change and is excited to continue growing in a more challenging role supporting Mrs. Carpenter as the new principal.

We are thrilled to have such a dynamic team to work with our elementary staff and parent community in the fall.
