One of our key strategic goals at LCS is to increase access to quality childcare in our community.
Harmony Wilson, our Director of Early Learning, has been instrumental in helping us make that goal a reality over the last couple of years. Harmony provides leadership over the LCS Pre-School and the New Generations daycare program that is owned and operated by LCS.
From a board and leadership viewpoint, Harmony is such an asset to our school. Her care for kids and parents, her professionalism and her passion for early learning initiatives are unrivalled. This announcement is the result of building partnerships with the government and her hard work and perseverance to see it through. Few educators I’ve met work harder on behalf of improving learning for kids than Harmony.
LCS HEAD OF SCHOOLS
During COVID, Harmony spearheaded our programming for Emergency Support Workers. When LCS purchased New Generations in 2020 from a private owner-operator, Harmony led the process to access grants and maintain licensing, on top of hiring and supporting staff in a challenging ECE job market. More recently, she’s led the charge in helping LCS establish itself as the only independent school in BC that can pilot the “seamless day” program recently introduced, and she established a plan for before and after school care program which is a lifesaver for many parents and some of our staff. And recently, she successfully earned 10$/day daycare funding.
We are so excited that we can offer this affordable option for families in the Langley community. For some, this is especially good news to celebrate. It is hard to imagine any of this being possible without the efforts of Harmony Wilson and the outstanding team she has built to support our daycare and preschool programs.
