LANGLEY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL AWARDS
C & D Logistics Business Scholarship
Awarded annually to a graduating student who demonstrates financial need, maintains a 75% average, and who plans on attending a post-secondary institution in the area of business. The student must be involved in a variety of extra-curricular activities.
Centra Windows Award
Centra is a locally owned company which began in 1984. They do general contracting with building restorations, exterior cladding and siding, and install and manufacture a premium line of vinyl windows specifically engineered for the BC construction industry. They have created a scholarship intended for a student wanting to pursue the construction trades and who has financial need. Value: $1000.
David Folkerts Memorial Award
This award will be given annually to a graduating student who has a heart for missions and who will be pursuing a missions program or trip within the next year. Financial need will also be considered. Value: $500.
The Dinesen Family Scholarship for Special Needs Leadership
Awarded annually to a graduate who has a love for students with special needs and who plans on a career helping people with cognitive or physical challenges. The recipient must have experience working with such students in either a school or community setting and provide proof of enrolment in a post-secondary program that aims to train students for work in a special needs field: Special Education, Speech Language Therapy, Life Skills Therapy, Occupational Therapy for those with autism, Behaviour Interventionist, or similiar fields. Value: $2000.
Eric & Alice Voogt Scholarship
Awarded annually to a student who demonstrates a serious interest in his/her studies and plans to pursue a degree in horticulture. Value: $1000.
Jack Nagtegaal Memorial Award
Awarded annually to the student who wishes to receive training in the trades and can demonstrate financial need to complete the training. Value: $2000.
Jeanne Richter Memorial Award
Awarded annually to the student who achieves the highest academic standing during the final year of secondary education. This award will be given in September after graduation. Value: $1500.
Kyle and Emile Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to the graduate known for his/her ability to build community. This student will have been involved in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities, and have made positive contributions to student life at LCS. S/he will have the ability to draw other people in, and to generate a healthy school spirit.
This award is by staff nomination only. Value: $1000.
The LCS Foundation Scholarship
Awarded annually to a graduating student who will be entering a missions or ministry program upon graduation. The recipient must have a specific plan and have submitted an essay to the LCS Foundation Board. The Foundation Board is responsible for selecting the award recipient. Value: $1000.
LCS Staff Scholarship
Awarded annually to a graduating student who will be attending a post-secondary institution to pursue a degree in Education. The recipient should demonstrate a Christ-like attitude, be serious about academics, as well as demonstrate leadership in school and contribute to extra-curricular activities within the school. Value: $1000.
Wes Geransky Memorial Award
Awarded annually to the grade 12 student who best represents the goals of LCS. This person must show evidence of being a community builder, be serious about academics, be involved in leadership in and outside of the school community, be active in the extra-curricular program, have a heart of service, and must model a mature Christian walk. The award must be used for post-secondary studies.
