Our year at LCMS is jammed packed with sports. You are sure to find a sport that you will thrive in and enjoy team camaraderie and competitive play at all levels at LCMS.

A year at LCMS is filled from start to finish with one sport after another. The year starts off with Cross Country, which takes us into the end of October. Meanwhile our Volleyball program for grades 6-8 gets into full swing starting in September and finishing up near the end of November. We then jump straight into our Basketball program, which starts up in beginning of December and continues until the end of February. After spring break we start up our badminton league which is quickly followed by our Track and Field team which takes us into June. We end off the year with an Ultimate team for the six and seven’s. In total, we have six different sports offered at LCMS with a total of 23 teams representing our school.

Leagues

LCMS Middle School participates in a variety of leagues. Teams from Grades 6-7 participate in the Christian Elementary School Sports League (CESS). LCMS also participates in the Langley Elementary School Sports League which provides us with a wide range of games we can play within Langley community. The focus for these grades is on participation, team work and fostering a discipleship to all those we play with and against.

The grade 8 students participate in the British Columbia Christian Schools Athletic Association (BCCSSAA), Langley District School Association (LDSSA), as well as British Columbia School Sports (BCSS). The Grade 8 athletic program is more completive in design with the teams participating in a higher number of games and tournaments.

Physical Education

Looking for Fun? Looking for a variety of activities? Look no further, for our P.E. program provides fun, variety, opportunity to develop sports skills, and participation in activities designed to promote life long fitness.

The P.E. program at LCMS is dedicated to the development of a physically fit and intellectually educated person. Life long fitness is the goal for all our students, derived from the verse:

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 - Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honour God with your body.

We work on students’ fitness through a variety of exercise. We also attempt to expose students to a wide range of activities. Such activities include: Volleyball, Basketball, Dance, Soccer, Active Health, Badminton, Track and Field, Minor Games, Pickle Ball, Outdoor Hockey, Softball, Ultimate Frisbee, Net Ball, Eclipse Ball, and Fitness.

We also challenge our students to think critically about issues pertaining to physical education. Such topics include:

  • Nutrition
  • Body image
  • Benefits of physical fitness
  • Game rules and scoring
  • Strategy in games
