On Wednesday, May 24th, 2017, the Langley Christian School community gathered together to show their love and support for Dave Alexander and family.  Dave, longtime LCS staff member, was instrumental in developing the music program for the LCS middle and high school. With twenty-two years of service at LCS Dave was a common fixture within the halls of LCS as well as an involved member of the great music community.  Dave has taken up a new challenge, as he struggles to battle the disease known as ALS. The early stages of this have taken Dave to a place where he no longer felt capable of teaching. He felt it best to concentrate on his treatment, and has reluctantly acted – once again – in the best interest of his students.

In the fall of 2016, a group of parents with a heart for supporting the Alexander family developed a vision for a night of music and celebration that would raise funds to support the future needs of the Alexander family.  These needs will include medial needs as ALS progresses, and funds to cover post secondary costs for the four Alexander children.   Lead by Ken Koch and Ryan and Tracey Dahl, the "Let's Beat ALS" benefit concert was born.  Friends, family, colleagues, students, former students and community supporters filled Church in the Valley (Acts of Kindness Centre) on May 24th to show their support, raise awareness for ALS and raise funds for the Alexander family.
