Jason Humeniuk

BOARD CHAIRMAN

Occupation/Skill Set: Mortgage Broker/ Managing Partner – Dominion Lending Centres Hilltop Financial

Relationship with LCS: We have been part of the LCS community for the last 8 years and with two boys in the middle and elementary school, we get the opportunity to see a lot of the school, amazing staff and incredible programs offered at LCS.

Hope for LCS in the years ahead: My deep hope for LCS is that we can become the preeminent choice for Christian education, offering an outstanding, Christ centred learning, experience to all families and students looking to make an impact in the world while fulfilling their Kingdom calling.

Jim Heuving

BOARD VICE CHAIR

Occupation/Skill Set:  Pastor of Executive Functions – serving in areas of strategic development, entrepreneurial development, staff development and Board guidance

Relationship with LCS: One son in middle school and one in high school, who are being shaped into fine young men with a heart for God and a growing understanding of their role in the world.

Hope for LCS in the years ahead: To see a future of expanding capacity, thriving community of learning, graduates of outstanding kingdom contributors to the world, and a centre of culture shaping in Langley.

 

Ian Thomas

Occupation/Skill Set: Banker

Relationship with LCS: Parent and Board Member. I have been part of the LCS community since 2012.

Hope for LCS in the years ahead: That we continue to thrive and be an example of service, academics, athletics and grace. That we would grow with the Langley community, demonstrating excellence in all we do, serving as an example of God's love and grace and being know as a place of joy and excitement.

Danielle Stevenson

BOARD SECRETARY

Occupation/Skill Set:  I'm a proud stay at home mom. Along with my husband Kirk, we are owners of the Vintage Rod Shop. I also have my Bachelor in Business with a concentration in marketing.

Relationship with LCS: We have 4 children. They are in grades 7, 5 and 2 and the youngest will be attending Kindergarten in the fall.

Hope for LCS in the years ahead: Continue equipping and loving children to be centred in Christ while discovering their true gifts. For this to extend itself into the greater community and generations to come. For LCS to thrive for my children's children.

 

Linda Stam

BOARD RECORDING SECRETARY

Occupation/ Skill Set: Administrative Assistant at Manoah Manor in Langley and Recording Secretary for the LCS Board.

Relationship with LCS: Parent and Recording Secretary for the LCS Board.  I have one daughter who has attended LCS since Preschool and I am thankful that she has the opportunity to experience Christian education.

Hope for LCS in the years ahead: I dearly hope that LCS will be able to accommodate all those who desire Christian education for their children. LCS has such a great staff in every area, who are both excellent at their jobs and who also love and respect each other and all the kids who attend LCS.  It has been an honour and a privilege to work for LCS and to volunteer at the Elementary campus each week.

Tracey Dahl

Occupation/Skill Set: Currently a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a private practice in Langley. Bachelor's of Education from University of Victoria and have taught at the elementary level in both full time and part time positions.

Relationship with LCS: I started my teaching career at LCS in 1994. Following the birth of our four children, I stayed at home and worked part-time as a teacher on call with LCS. All four of our children will have graduated from LCS with our youngest graduating in 2019.

Hope for LCS in the years ahead: We have an opportunity at LCS to raise world changers and become a community of people who are the leaders in Christian education. My hope is for LCS to have the highest standard of Christ-centred education to equip our graduates socially, academically, spiritually and emotionally. We achieve this goal by executing our programming with excellence and discovering what it looks like to lead with grace, love and safety.

Leanne DeWitt

Occupation/Skill Set: Small Business Owner

Relationship with LCS: I have a deep history at LCS (as I attended here as a student) and a deep love for LCS. I am grateful to have an opportunity to serve at my kids school, partnering with other parents and with teachers to create a life – changing education experience for all our students.

Hope for LCS in the years ahead: That LCS continue to be a Christ – centred school that encourages and equips students to be world changers for the kingdom of God. My deep hope is that LCS be a safe and welcoming space for students to feel loved and equipped to discern God's call on their life.

Mark Griffioen

Occupation/Skill Set: City of Surrey Deputy Fire Chief.  Responsible for Fire Prevention, City Emergency Planning and Community Engagement in fire safety.

Relationship with LCS: Currently have 4 children between Gr 5 & Gr 12. I attended John Knox in Burnaby and Fraser Valley Christian High (Surrey Christian) and then King's College – entire education has been in the Christian school system.

Hope for LCS in the years ahead: That graduates of LCS are salt and light in the world, reflecting a deep sense of God's presence in their lives as discovered through their experiences with the staff, students and body of the school – no matter what or where they begin their vocations and relationships.

Eric Paquette

Occupation/Skill Set: Founder – C.E.O – Quantum Link Logistic.
Leadership – Motivator – Big Picture – Organization

Relationship with LCS: Parent of 4 children in LCS. My wife, Karen, teaches (TOC) at the elementary campus.

Hope for LCS in the years ahead: My hope is that LCS continues to be a light in Langley in respect to education. To continue equipping students in a Christ centred way.

Abel Strujenco

Occupation/Skill Set: Business Owner (Flooring Company). Moved with my family from Moldova in 2007. Graduated from University of Medicine – Moldova.

Relationship with LCS: My wife Vitoria and I have three children in LCS. We have been part of the LCS community since 2015. Our family attends Southridge Fellowship Church , where we serve as a family.

Hope for LCS in years ahead: I joined the LCS Board this year (2018) and I am looking forward to serve and be a part of the strategic initiatives that will ensure that LCS continues to provide educational excellence and fosters the next generation of christian leaders.

Tracy Van Huizen

Occupation/Skill Set: Co-Owner of greenhouse business with my husband Eric. Accounting, sales and administration.

Relationship with LCS: First employed as a book keeper (1997-2002) and then worked in the Development Office (2013 – 2015).  We have had children in LCS since 1998 with 3 kids currently in grade 11, 9 and 7. I have been involved in Friends of LCS, classroom volunteering and coaching.

Hope for LCS in the years ahead: That LCS continues to be a foundation to our children's growth in faith, knowledge and ultimately transforming their lives.

Relationship with LCS: Parent of 2 girls, one in high school and one in elementary

Occupation/Skill Set: Chartered Professional Accountant / Business Owner

Relationship with LCS:  Twin boys in grade 12 and a daughter in grade 9

Hope for LCS in the years ahead: That LCS would be known as the preeminent Christ-centred independent K-12 school in Langley, executing with excellence and that LCS students would grow into Christ following leaders in society.
