FALL 2016 Society Meeting Highlights


On Monday, November 28 the Langley Christian School Society met for its Annual General Meeting.  Here are some highlights and results:

  1. The main purpose of our Fall AGM is to approve the previous year’s Financial Statements so they can be filed with the BC Registry- Approved

  2. We reviewed initiatives and projects funded in last year’s budget as well as our current debt picture

  3. We approved Manning Eliot to conduct an audit of LCS finances for the 2016-2017 fiscal year (August 1, 2016 – July 31, 2017)

  4. We were provided with an update on the Superintendent Search:  narrowed down to two candidates and the Board hopes to make an appointment no later than the beginning of January.  The new Superintendent will begin duties in August.

  5. An overview of the new Societies Act was provided.  An appeal went out for 2 parents to join a task force to recommend changes to our Bylaws by the Spring of 2017.  PLEASE CONTACT HENRY VANDERVEEN IF YOU ARE WILLING TO PARTICIPATE ON THIS TASK FORCE.

  6. The second Growth and Development Committee introduced representatives of a Construction Management firm and an Architectural firm to assist us in the next phase of building feasibility.  The Committee will bring a recommendation to the Board at its December meeting.  A survey was distributed.  Results as follows:

    1. Do you support the recommendation to the Board to hire Unitech Construction and CHP Architects to conceive and cost out a third campus project? 84% Agree

    2. Do you believe the GAD2 committee chose a capable construction manager? 85% Agree

    3. Do you believe the GAD2 committee chose a capable architect? 85% agree
