impact in sport and beyond…

The Lightning Athletics program encourages the development of student-athletes who demonstrate a commitment to the shared faith and values of our school through their perseverance and work ethic, selfless teamwork, serving their community, and pursuing excellence and achievement both on and off the field of competition.

The purpose of Lightning Athletics is to educate, inspire and equip student-athletes to discover their gifts, build their character, selflessly serve others and make a positive IMPACT in their community.

LIGHTNING ATHLETICS MISSION STATEMENT (2021)
expand_more FIND OUT MORE:

Athletics forms a core part of our identity as a school, and a rich part of our history and legacy in the community. Our program is an essential element for building community with alumni, parents, students and local sports partners like local schools and club programs… All with the goal of promoting excellence, belonging, connection and youth wellness.

As a smaller school, we compete within the AA level in BC School Sports but are competitive with schools in AAAA and AAA, and participate in a number of tournaments featuring the best teams from all sizes of schools in the province.

Each level of athletics development K-12 serves as a progression for students – moving from an emphasis on participation and physical literacy toward specialization and championship competition. Over 50% of our students in grades 4-8 participate in our athletics program.

We aim to match athletes with qualified, passionate coaches and teachers who take seriously their roles as mentors and role models of our school’s values. If you’re interested in volunteering or coaching to support our program, we would love to hear from you.
