Langley Christian School is an interdenominational school of approximately 1,100 students on three campuses: Elementary (pre-K to Grade 5), Middle (Grades 6-8) and High (Grades 9-12).

JOB POSITIONS AVAILABLE

Langley Christian Elementary School is seeking applications for an enthusiastic, committed, visionary, educational leader with a heart for children and a passion for Christian education, beginning August 15, 2018. The successful candidate will work closely with the principal and assistant principal on a campus administrative team that serves over 500 students from Preschool through to Grade Five. S/He will possess the ability to collaboratively lead and nurture a dedicated, mature and flexible teaching and support staff of approximately 60 members, as well as effectively engage with parents and the larger LCS Community.

The successful candidate will give evidence of the following criteria in his/her documentation and interview:

 

Required:

Proof of BC teaching certification (or the ability to hold such a certification)

Familiarity with Independent Schools in British Columbia

Preferred:

Five years of teaching experience at a kindergarten – grade five level

Understanding of best practices related to Preschool to Grade Five in curriculum, instruction, assessment, and technology

Experience and willingness to work collaboratively with a campus leadership team that includes a new principal and a continuing assistant principal

Experience and willingness to work collaboratively with a cross-campus leadership team in  a wide variety of areas and situations

A deep understanding of the developmental needs of children between the ages of three and eleven

The successful applicant will have a .65 teaching assignment. Administrative tasks may include responsibilities such as:

Learning Assistance & Special Education Coordinator (maternity leave) August 2018.

This is part-time position – 60% to 80% (negotiable).

Langley Christian School values inclusive special education where students with learning differences are included in the classroom and high school program with their peers to the greatest extent possible, with the implementation of alternate educational programs or learning activities when appropriate.

This position involves working with the other High School Learning Assistance/Special Ed Coordinator, EAs, and high school teachers in the development and implementation of IEPs, Learning Support Plans, and planning life skills and work experience opportunities for our Grade 11 & 12 students.   The successful applicant will also be part of the K – 12 Educational Support Services team at Langley Christian School.
We are seeking applicants who:

• Are BC certified teacher (or able to become certified in BC)
• Have a minimum 2 years of successful classroom teaching
• Have certification in special education (or have coursework in special education)

Additional courses and/or experience in assessment/testing theory and practice, and strategies for teaching, adapting and modifying the curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students is an asset.
